聽I fondly remember my time at Beaconsfield High School from arriving wide-eyed in 8th grade for my first year of high School to going to Grad and the fun events in between. There were the long lunches in the cafeteria, the dances in A gym and playing rugby under coach Joanne Bartholomew. There were many memorable teachers along the way鈥ost of all, high school was about the friendships we forged that remain strong today despite time and distance. I recently spent a weekend in Cape Cod with 7 good friends from BHS coming from the UK, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal and Boston. In fact, I married my date from grad and fellow graduate of BHS, Deena Ghaza

It was at Greendale Elementary School in Pierrefonds (now Kingsdale Elementary) that I fell in love with reading and writing. By Grade 6, I knew I wanted to be a journalist and I was thrilled to be chosen as my class valedictorian. Little did I know at the time that kind of public speaking experience would help pave the way to a career in broadcast journalism.

聽At both Greendale and St. Thomas, I was lucky to have made lifelong friends. I will forever be grateful to the caring and devoted teachers who supported and encouraged me throughout my schooling. I have fond memories of so many of these remarkable teachers, who taught lessons that last a lifetime

My time at John Rennie High School Sport-Etudes was incredibly formative, both academically and athletically. The support and understanding from my teachers were instrumental in helping me achieve my goals in both realms. Their accommodation of my rigorous training schedule while maintaining a high academic standard truly exemplified the spirit of dedication and support within the school community.Participating in 聽my third Olympics this past 聽summer and concurrently completing my doctorate in podiatric medicine is a testament not only to my personal dedication but also to the supportive environment fostered by institutions like the 午夜神器 Board.

The 午夜神器 Board acknowledges that our schools and centres are located on the unceded ancestral territory of the Kanien鈥檏eh谩:ka (Mohawk) People of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, that was established when the Peacemaker arrived in this region, centuries ago, to share his message of peace. We honour the Kanien鈥檏eha: ka (Mohawk) people who continue to steward this land, with great care, to ensure the land remains healthy and safe for the next 7 generations. We acknowledge the continuing harm of colonization on First Nations, Inuit and M茅tis people and commit to informing ourselves about these injustices by reading the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: 94 Calls to Action and acting upon them whenever possible. This year we will be learning about the 鈥淧eace Maker鈥 and the importance of the 鈥淕reat Law of Peace鈥 for the Kanien鈥檏eha:ka people. To quote Lester B. Pearson: 鈥淯nderstanding the nature of conflict leads to peace.鈥
